Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for supplier quality, ensuring all parts are compliant to engineering, packaging, and quality specifications while meeting cost targets. Ensures supplier quality actions conform to companies quality requirements through supplier audits, visits, and review of quality related documentation.

Reviews and manages supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to confirm the supplier is capable of manufacturing parts that meet Isuzu quality requirements.

 

Coordinates and conducts supplier process audits and confirms related supplier documentation such as control plans, PFMEA, control charts, etc., support a robust quality management system.

 

Coordinates assignments to assure all program deliverables are satisfied on or before their required dates to meet program timing.

Establishes root cause and countermeasures with suppliers to quickly and thoroughly resolve plant/port quality issues.

 

Assists with coordinating the flow of documents and information regarding engineering changes, quality requirements, etc., between suppliers, purchasing, and engineering.

Supports IMSA on engineering initiatives.

 

Participates in internal cross-training opportunities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

 
  • Reports to:   Executive Manager, Purchasing
  • No direct reports

 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

 
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Quality related field, or equivalent directly related work experience
  • Minimum three years supplier quality experience in the automotive industry

 

 

KNOWLEDGE

 
  • Quality control techniques
  • Blueprints and engineering drawing
  • Working knowledge of SPC functions

 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 
  • Proficient PC skills in Windows applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and countermeasure with closed loop controls
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training and business and technical meetings/presentations
  • Ability to maintain accurate data files
  • Effective planning and scheduling techniques

 

 

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

 

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer.  This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less.

 

Position requires occasional travel with possible overnight stays.
