Controls Manager

This position is responsible for development, maintaining, and improving automation control systems integral to our production processes. To increase uptime, throughput, efficiency and quality, through the process of maintaining, designing, developing and continuously improving our equipment and the utilization of technology to ensure the best quality products are produced. Must be able to manage multiple projects through the assigned controls project leaders and report project and budget status.

• Involvement in controls project
• Promote team atmosphere within department maintaining a positive attitude
• PLC Programming, manage assigned projects and duties
• Perform continuous improvement activities to improve safety, to increase productivity and to reduce production cost, by development and improvement of electrical control systems, PLC, HMI & robotics programming including design, implementation and troubleshooting
• Assisting in developing of PM strategies and identify areas of improvement within the control system infrastructure
• Maintaining and reporting project design and commissioning status to Director through department documentation
• Follow Electrical Code to create electrical diagram
• Follow customer supplied specifications
• Participation in pre-design reviews for new machinery
• Direct leaders, contractors and/or employees to implement control system projects
• Assist project teams with management of customers upon request
• Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to controls systems
• Assist in troubleshooting and repair of electrical problems as required
• Assist in identifying and procuring equipment and parts necessary for daily maintenance requirements
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
• Perform all other duties, as assigned
• Some travel may be required (Typically 2 weeks at a time with alternating weekend’s home, this may vary by travel distance or customer requirements. Install lengths range from 3 months to a year depending on the size of the job) to customer facilities to set up or modify automation processes impacted by robot issues and resolve such issues

• 7+ year’s work related experience preferred
• 2 years’ experience managing a team of 5 employees
• Knowledge of PLC programming
• Strong working knowledge of Rockwell 5000 or Siemens Step 7
• Knowledge of industrial communication networks
• Strong knowledge of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Electrical Code
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows, AutoCAD
• Root cause analysis experience
• Must have working command of the English language, and be able to effectively communicate

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar preferred

Be able to perform light office work and work in automotive plants
