Position Functions:

  • Precision assembly of: electronic assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, opto-mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, complete products, and/or systems.
  • Mounting assembled mechanical and electrical components, such as electronic assemblies, mechanical assemblies, and connectors, to chassis panels and/or sensor extrusions.
  • Fine alignment and focus of optical subsystems.
  • Testing of electronic systems, sub-assemblies, and complete products to ensure unit functions according to specifications or in the event of failure, determine cause of unit failure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend: Job orders, test schedules, test manuals, work instructions, performance specifications, and wiring diagrams to determine testing procedure and equipment and/or tools required.
  • Test functional performance of systems, sub-assemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.
  • Connect unit to be tested to test equipment, such as signal generator, wavelength and power meters, or spectrum analyzer. Comprehend and record output.
  • Connect and record units under test to automated testing fixtures.
  • Compare results with specifications and record test data and/or plot/graph test results.
  • Perform go-no-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Analyze test results on defective units to determine troubleshooting steps.
  • Troubleshoot systems, sensors, complete product, and sub-assemblies and rectify failure.
  • Replace defective wiring and components, record defects in ERP system, to receive replacement parts.
  • Confer with Manufacturing engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.
  • Devise test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.
  • Read dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
  • Verify dimensions of pins, shafts, and other mechanical parts.
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, solder, cement, press fit, torque or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Adjust or trim material from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Connect/solder component lead wires to printed circuit boards, route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Empowered quality inspector to ensure quality standards from one work station to the next. 


Minimum Education / Experience Required:


Associate degree in Engineering Technology disciplines, and one plus years related experience in Electro-Mechanical/Precision assembly; or equivalent combination of Engineering Technology training and three plus years of Electro-Mechanical/Precision assembly experience. Ability to demonstrate mechanical assembly skills and knowledge. Prior troubleshooting skills are desired and can be used as education and/or experience, per Manager’ s discretion.
